Attractive first floor flat in Newhaven area of Edinburgh, a few minutes from the seafront
We have exchanged on two Edinburgh properties, before moving recently to our current location. The apartment is on the first floor of a block with five others. Belvedere Park is in a quiet cul-de-sac with off street parking. There is a large open plan lounge and dining room with a balcony with space to sit out on and enjoy the afternoon and evening sun; a well-designed and compact kitchen, two bathrooms (one with bath and shower), two bedrooms and an office. All main rooms have large windows that create an environment with a lot of light. The apartment is comfortably furnished, with all the appliances and electronics that any guest would need. Residents have private access to their own park nearby, as well as a beautiful public park with facilities. The Newhaven area was historically a fishing village and still retains a pretty working harbour (five minutes walk away). There are café’s, restaurants, a supermarket and pubs within easy walking distance. The city centre is a 20 minute bus or tram ride. The new tram line, starting at the airport, going through the city centre, finishes at Newhaven.

An excellent experience – both the people and the apartment. The home is clean, comfortable, and cozy, beautifully decorated, and fully equipped with everything one might need. The location is perfect – slightly away from the noisy center, yet very close to the sea and the Water of Leith. The bus stop is right outside the building, and in just 20 minutes you're in the heart of Edinburgh. Paul and Gillian are perfect hosts: kind, thoughtful, and they had prepared everything to make our stay smooth and enjoyable. I would definitely recommend a home exchange with them!

We are Paul and Gillian, two retired academics who have shared homes in Edinburgh since 2001. Our grown-up children from previous relationships live in different cities of the UK.
