Traditional house in Den Haag, Netherlands
We are Simon and Anke Burgers, both musicians of classical music (composer, harpist). We live in a sunny and comfortable traditional 4-floor house, built in 1887, 10 minutes walk from the center of The Hague.
Our city is not so overcrowded with tourists as Amsterdam, but there are - apart from the cultural objects like world famous paintings by Vermeer, Mondriaan and Escher, the Panorama Mesdag, the Peace Palace - a lot of attractions, like Madurodam, Duinrell, Museon, Omniversum, et cetera.
There is a beautiful beach, 15 minutes biking from our home. The part of The Hague called 'Scheveningen' is a famous sea bathing-place for over 100 years.
Rotterdam is 18 minutes by train, Amsterdam 48 minutes; the historical cities Delft and Leiden are even closer (10 and 15 minutes by train).

About the neighborhood
We live in a quiet street, but in a charming, lively quarter with supermarkets, a lot of other shops and many restaurants. The following places are a ten minutes walk from our home: (1) 'Panorama Mesdag', the biggest painting in Holland; (2) The Peace Palace; (3) The Grand Church at the city center. The worldfamous Maurits Huis is a fifteen minutes walk, the Kunstmuseum + Museon + Omniversum twenty minutes. The city center contains a big Concert Hall with all kinds of music, ballet and other dance events. There are also a lot of cinema's, with main stream films and art house films as well, all of them spoken in original language (with Dutch subtitles).

We love music (of course), books, art, animals, walking, biking, nature and kind people. We have a daughter, a son and a small grandson. They all live in Amsterdam. A few decades ago, we enjoyed together with our daughter and son a lot of very nice Intervac exchanges.
