Discover the stunning Wild Atlantic Way from our spacious family home situated in the quiet, rural village of Menlo minutes from Galway city. There are four comfortable bedrooms, one with a super king size bed, two with double beds and one with a set of bunk beds, three are en-suite. There is also a study with a sofa bed. We have a large, well-equipped kitchen with a family dining area, two reception rooms and a dining room. There is a large front and back garden and a gate so children can play safely outdoors. We are located near Lough Corrib and a ten minute drive from Galway city centre.
Galway is a vibrant city with plenty of interesting places to visit, including Galway Museum and the Aquarium. There is a lively pub and restaurant scene with locally-sourced and artisanal produce, two Michelin starred restaurants, a weekly craft and food market and bustling shopping streets.
Galway is noted for its arts scene with a range of theatre and street performances all year round as well as traditional Irish music in pubs and venues in the city. Galway International Arts Festival is a major attraction each July with theatre performances, children’s entertainment, a stunning parade and concerts. The Galway Races is a week-long racing festival held annually in late July/early August that attracts racegoers from around the country.
The promenade at Salthill is popular for walks and it has a blue flag beach that is safe for children. Other quiet beaches are a short drive away. Galway city is the gateway to Connemara - an unspoilt area of mountains, lakes, coastline and the Aran Islands. With its breathtaking scenery it is a great place for walking, swimming, cycling and hiking. Nearby is the world-famous Cliffs of Moher and the unique landscape of the Burren in Co. Clare. Other areas of interest can be visited on a day trip, including Croagh Patrick and the ancient monastic site of Clonmacnoise.
We are one hour from Shannon and Knock airports and two hours from Dublin.
We are a family of five - Mick is a retired family doctor and Fiona has retired from education management. Our three adult children now make their own holiday plans.
We are flexible with our travel dates throughout the year and will consider all offers including week-end trips. Long-term stays of two to three months will be considered. We have experienced 30 wonderful exchanges and will treat your home with care and respect.

CH1693We experienced a very nice exchange. The house is very nice and spacious, the kitchen newly renovated and just great. The garden is huge, but unfortunately could not be used because of the bad weather. The house is on the outskirts of Galway in a very quiet area. A car is absolutely necessary.
The exchange with Michael and Fiona was mostly in writing. We really enjoyed the exchange, thanks again for that.

HROC1301The hosts were very cooperative in communication before the exchange. They welcomed us at the arrival with small lunch and explained everything before leaving. The house is large and nice with a beautiful garden.
The region is quiet, residental only, nice for walking, no shops, no bars or restaurants, no crowd.
Galway and surroundings nice to explore, worth visiting.
