Villa in Reykjavik Capital Region, Iceland
Beautiful modern design villa with a private garden. Spacious, bright, and well equipped 257 m2 private house with four bedrooms, two bathrooms, garage, large modern kitchen / dining area with entrance out to a terrace area with outdoor sitting and dining area with a barbeque and a hot tub, large living room with fantastic view over the lake and the mountain and spacious TV room 60' TV. We are a happy family of four living at home; children age 13 and 14.
Spectacular natural surroundings in a quiet neighborhood at the east site of the capital region of Reykjavik, 20 minutes' drive from Reykjavik city centrum. There is a beautiful view from our house over the surrounding mountains and the lake which is in 5 min walking distance. In the area is one of the most popular outdoor area in Iceland, Heiðmörk with numerous hiking paths, fishing lakes, golf courses, horse stables and one of Icelands popular geothermal outdoor swimming pools.
There is short driving distance to Keflavik airport (45min) and Iceland’s’ most popular tourist attractions Bláa lónið (45min), Thingvellir (1h), Gullfoss (1.5h) and Geysir (1.5h). Iceland is a country with many natural wonders, like hot springs, glaciers, caves, cute puffins, high mountains, and rugged fjords. There is an abundance of activities all year around. In the summer months you can take on a self-drive tour around the island “the Ring Road” in 5-7 days and enjoy the midnight sun which is a phenomenon inside the Arctic Circle in summer, whereby the sun does not set below the horizon.
Our car, Toyota Land Cruiser diesel 4x4 2022 model GX, is spacious, comfortable and a fantastic travel car for Iceland. We also have a smaller car Toyota Yaris, hybrid model 2023 if preferred.
Iceland is a great destination over the summer months but a real adventure during the winter months when it is possible to catch the sight of the northern lights “aurora borealis”, our favorite is to be at the hot tub in the garden with the magical northern lights dancing in the sky above. Icelanders are big on Christmas and New Year’s celebrations and visiting Iceland over the holiday season is memorable. Reykjavík city center is full of decorations and our home is fantastic for celebrating the New Years. The community bonfires on the New Years Eve are where Icelanders starts the celebration. One of the biggest New Years eve bonfires in Iceland is in 10 minutes walking distance from our home. The midnight fireworks light up the sky at midnight and you have a great view from our balcony. Main attractions are normally accessible during the wintertime.
